I had never heard of Val's Art Diary before this assignment.  Being an artist myself, I am very interested in her promotional strategy.  Valentina Trevino videotapes herself actually creating a painting and, in addition to commentary about her process, she gives a more personal blogging commentary.  The two distinct sides of thevideo are made very apparent when she edits her video into a split screen; half focused on her in painting action, the other half being her own quirky, raw thoughts about the painting and much more.  Her versatility draws in viewers from the artistic side and the random blogger areas, widening her audience.

I think people respond positively to Valentina's artwork because her videos include everything and anything she is thinking; the good, the bad, funny, silly, strange.  Viewers are able to relate to her quirky personality and are more apt to pursue purchasing her pieces.

I think what Val is doing is very creative and a great way to sell her product. instead of just making an ordinary Website with pictures of her art work and prices she keeps a "diary" on Facebook and YouTube videos. I think the most interesting part is she has these videos of her making the art, so not only can you buy the painting but you can see it in the making. This is a great way to make her art more personal which is a great marketing tool for people to buy her art. She also does a great job with marketing by you are able to but her DVDs, she makes this fun and creative by adding a game to the DVD, this is something that i have never seen before.
