Written by: Samantha Josephine Victoria

Google is not only one of the most popular internet search engines, Google’s AdWord feature has integrated advertising into the mix.  With a combination of internet searches and keyword advertising, AdWords gets your company or website noticed!AdwordsKeywordsTool-main_Full

Advertising + Keywords = Google’s AdWord

Ever type in a search and see “Sponsored Links” listed at the very top and sides of your Google page??

These links are actually AdWord advertisements!  A one-time $5 activation fee is all your business needs to set up an AdWords account and start advertising as a sponsored link on Google.

Through your AdWord account, you choose specific Keywords that, when searched, will bring up your advertisement along with the search results.  You pay when your Ad gets clicked.

In short:

You create your ads.
Your ads appear on Google.
You attract customers!!!!

  • Headline
  • Description
  • Display URL
  • Destination URL

Choose your words carefully!!!:
Make sure your keywords are specific and not vague or you may be hit with a large AdWord charge.  Digital Media Marketing is much more specific than just Marketing.

How AdWords Pricing Works:

  • Cost-per-click (CPC):  This is the amount you’re willing to pay for a click on your ad when it appears on Google.  CPC is for campaigns targeted to the search network!
  • Cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM): This is the amount you’re willing to pay each 1,000 times your ad appears on Google.  CPM is for campaigns targeted to the content network!
  • Daily Budgets: Your daily budget is how much you are willing to spend each day.

With AdWords, you set your spending limits!  You only pay for clicks your ad receives.  To control your costs, you must monitor:

  • Your CPC or CPM
  • Your daily budgets
  • Your Quality Score: Used to measure the quality of your keywords and to asses the ads cost-per-clicks. The higher the Quality Score, the lower the price you pay per click.

Google also integrates your AdWord into a feature used to monitor your website traffic and marketing effectiveness with Google Analytics.  Look at my last blog post to learn more about AdWords with Google Analytics to make an even more successful campaign!
